Description / 1855 1C Flying Eagle Cent J-168 NGC PR66BN (PHOTO SEAL & CAC)
Superb Gem Proof (12: 3,4,5) BN. Four leaves under E in STATES. Likely bronze, although no X-ray test has been added to the label. This is a fabulous pattern cent featuring the flying eagle design. About 100 examples were struck in both copper and bronze. This example has a full strike and has mostly mark-free surfaces. It looks like it just came out of a long held collection with totally original surfaces but little in the way of mirrors, which is not unusual for this issue.
