Description / 1858 1C Indian Head / Low Leaves cent J-213c PCGS PR65CAM (PHOTO SEAL & CAC)
Gem Proof (15: 5,5,5). Snow-PT30. The true transitional. The obverse is the pointed bust Indian head as used in 1859. The reverse is the low leaves reverse used for regular coinage in 1858. The finest known example! Only nine examples have been traced. These usually do not show mirrors deep enough for a cameo designation. This is the only example designated as cameo. This has not been transferred into the J-213c holder, so the population of the coin number on the holder includes all J-213 coins, not just the narrow bust examples. This is an exciting coin as the transitional piece. Collectos have always sought these over the broad bust pieces.
