2000-D VIP Strike SAC$1 Sacagawea Dollar w/Box & CofA PCGS SP68

This is the very rare VIP strike of the 2000 Sacagawea dollar struck at the Denver Mint. Only 120 examples were distributed at the February 2000 25th ceremony in Denver. There were two ceremonies and two VIP presentation coins - Philadelphia and Denver. The Philadelphia ceremony was held on November 18, 1999 and there were 600 coin struck for that event and of those only 3 have been certified by PCGS. This is the Denver issue and only 120 were made for this event. Only 2 are certified by PCGS and this is the main coin imaged at PCGS CoinFacts. The Denver issue is much rarer than the Philly issue. 

The coin is graded as a Specimen, which is a special designation. It has the strike and surface quality of a Proof, but the mirrors are not deep as a true proof would likely be. It certainly has a special look. This is truly a rare modern issue. This coin comes with the original box of issue. The certificate of authenticity is very important and ties the coin to the ceremony.
