2000-D Sacagawea Dollar – VIP Ceremony Strike | PCGS Certified Specimen | Ultra Rare Modern Issue

This is the very rare VIP strike of the 2000 Sacagawea dollar struck at the Denver Mint. Only 120 examples were distributed at the February 2000 25th ceremony in Denver. There were two ceremonies and two VIP presentation coins - Philadelphia and Denver. The Philadelphia ceremony was held on November 18, 1999 and there were 600 coins struck for that event and of those only 3 have been certified by PCGS. This is the Denver issue and only 120 coins were struck for this event. Only 2 are certified by PCGS and this is the main coin imaged at PCGS CoinFacts. The Denver issue is much rarer than the Philly issue.
The coin is graded as a Specimen, which is a special designation. It has the strike and surface quality of a Proof, but the mirrors are not deep as a true proof would likely be. It certainly has a special look. This is truly a rare modern issue. This coin comes with the original box of issue. The certificate of authenticity is very important and ties the coin to the ceremony.
This coin is graded SP68 by PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service). SP stands for Specimen Strike. A very special attribution given only to a few special issues.
This piece comes complete with the original box of issue and the certificate of authenticity, which ties it directly to the Denver ceremonial presentation—an essential element of provenance that confirms its VIP origin,
